The Sunset Park School of Music was founded in 1980. The school is a not-for-profit - 501 (C) (3) - music education and cultural institution serving a large, diversified community. The school operates in the Marien-Heim of Sunset Park, a senior citizens and community center complex at 4520 Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. A vital, growing institution, the school offers a broad program of private instruction, classes, community outreach programs and concerts. These programs, from Classical to Jazz to Broadway and more, are available to children and adults of all ages. The school has a long-standing commitment to financial aid and scholarships. Through grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, private foundations and individual support, Sunset Park School of Music is able to continue the tradition of being able to offer high-quality music instruction to all who wish to participate regardless of race, religion, nationality, or financial circumstance.
